This facility, which shall replace 500
beds currently at the House of
Correction (and upon the completion and
opening of which the cap immediately
hereinafter provided shall be
effective), shall be located adjacent to
the existing House of Correction on the
site of the present cattle barns and
storage sheds which is the site
currently used for the treatment and
rehabilitation of addicted prisoners and
which is known as the Jessup Pre-Release
Annex (Drug) facility; provided,
however, that should Anne Arundel County
not execute, by August 1, 1980, an
agreement with the State of Maryland
whereby the county shall thereafter
supply emergency water services to the
Division of Correction for the House of
Correction Complex, the site of the 500
bed facility provided for herein shall
be that property owned by the State of
Maryland in Howard County adjacent to
the Clifton T. Perkins Hospital......... 10,500,000
As of the date on which the 500-bed
replacement facility authorized herein
is open and accepting prisoners, the
total Division of Correction and
Patuxent Institution prison population
in the Jessup area shall not exceed
3,400 prisoners, computing as follows:
Jessup Pre-Release Unit (Including new
drug unit).............................. 184
Patuxent Institution.................... 640
Maryland Correctional Institution for
Women................................... 249
Brockbridge Correctional Facility....... 515
House of Correction renovation and/or
replacements..... (512+500+400+400)........ 1,812

Acquisition of a site bounded by Madison
Street, Greenmount Avenue, Eager Street,
and Homewood Avenue, known as the
Latrobe Site, and construction of a
250-bed minimum security unit on the
site. IN THIS PARAGRAPH, SECTION 1(6) OF
CHAPTER 671 OF THE ACTS OF 1977 DOES NOT
