AN ACT concerning
Mental Retardation - Comprehensive Evaluations
and Placement Plans
FOR the purpose of amending the definition of comprehensive
evaluation under the mental retardation laws; providing
that a comprehensive evaluation shall be obtained or
provided within a certain number of days after a person
has made application for admission to any mental
retardation facility; amending and expanding the
determinations that must be made by a comprehensive
evaluation; requiring that certain persons who are
admitted or transferred to or presently residing in any
facility for the mentally retarded be placed in the
appropriate least restrictive facility consistent with
the person's welfare, safety, and habilitation plan,
mandating that the director of the Mental Retardation
Administration take certain actions if such facilities
are not available; requiring the preparation of a
certain placement plan; and relating generally to
comprehensive evaluation and placement of evaluations
and placement plans for mentally retarded persons.
