AN ACT concerning

Health Occupations - Cardiac Rescue Technicians

FOR the purpose of redefining the term "cardiac rescue
technician" for the purpose of changing certain
authority as to cardiac rescue technician courses.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Section 14-303(a)
Annotated Code of Maryland

(As enacted by Chapter ____ (H.B. 1) of the Acts

of the General Assembly of 1981)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland

(as enacted by Chapter ____ (H.B. 1) of the Acts of the

General Assembly of 1981) be repealed, amended, or enacted
to read as follows:

Article - Health Occupations

14-303.

(a) In this section, "cardiac rescue technician" means
an individual who:

(1) (i) has completed [an] A BOARD APPROVED
advanced cardiac rescue technician course or [its] A BOARD
APPROVED equivalent [as determined by the director of
emergency medical services] COURSE APPROVED BY THE BOARD AND
THE DIRECTOR OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES; and

(ii) has been examined by the board and
certified as a cardiac rescue technician by the board; or

(2)  Is enrolled in a cardiac rescue technician
program that meets the standards set by the board.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1981.
