SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 56 - Licenses

264.

(c) A contractor or salesman may give tangible items
to prospective customers for advertising or sales promotion
purposes [where] IF the gift is not conditioned upon
obtaining a contract for home-improvement work[; provided no
such item shall]. HOWEVER,

(1)  ANY ITEM MAY NOT exceed a cost value of
[$2.50] $25, and [no]

(2)  AN owner [and/]or other person [shall] MAY
NOT receive more than one [such] item in connection with any
one transaction.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1981.

AN ACT concerning

Racing Commission - Tax on Wagering

FOR the purpose of delaying a scheduled tax increase on
racetrack wagering; extending the requirement that
certain racetracks allocate certain funds for track
maintenance and improvement through a certain year;
removing the requirement that these allocations be
approved by certain administrative agencies; and adding
an additional usage for certain funds; and relating
generally to the allocation of racing pari-mutuel
pools.
