2260                                    LAWS OF MARYLAND                                 Ch. 550

(e) (1) The Council consists of [ten] 13 members, 10
OF WHOM SHALL BE appointed by the Governor with the advice
of the Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene, as follows:

[(l)] (I) One from the Maryland Department of
Agriculture;

[(2)] (II) One from the University of Maryland
who, holds the position of pesticides coordinator for the
cooperative extension service;

[(3)] (III) One from the State Department of
Licensing and Regulation, Division of Labor and Industry;

[(4)] (IV) One from the State Department of
Natural Resources;

[(5)] (V) One from the hazardous substance
disposal and management industry;

[(6)] (VI) One from an industry which generates
hazardous substances;

[(7) Two from the public at large;

(8)](VII) The State Fire Marshal or his
designee; [and]

[(9)] (VIII) One person presently engaged in the
business of resource recovery;

(IX)  ONE FROM AN INDUSTRY WHICH GENERATES
LOW-LEVEL NUCLEAR WASTE;

(X)  ONE FROM THE LOW-LEVEL NUCLEAR WASTE
MANAGEMENT INDUSTRY; AND

(XI)  THREE MEMBERS FROM THE PUBLIC AT
LARGE, APPOINTED BY THE GOVERNOR WITH THE ADVICE AND CONSENT
OF THE SENATE FROM THE PUBLIC, NONE OF WHICH MEMBERS WHOM
QUALIFY FOR APPOINTMENT UNDER PARAGRAPHS (I) TO (X) OF THIS
SUBSECTION, AND ONE OF WHICH HAS A SPECIFIC NONPROPRIETARY
INTEREST IN NUCLEAR POWER.

(2) The term of membership is six years, except
that, of the original appointees, two, who are appointed
from the public at large, shall serve a six-year term, two,
one of whom is appointed from each industry, shall serve a
five-year term, one, who is appointed from the State
Department of Natural Resources, shall serve a four-year
term, one, who is appointed from the Maryland Department of
Agriculture, shall serve a three-year term, one, who is
appointed from the University of Maryland shall serve a
three-year term, and one, who is appointed from the State
Department of Licensing and Regulation, Division of Labor
and Industry, shall serve a two-year term.
