218                                            LAWS OF MARYLAND                                 Ch.8

Chapter 715, Acts of 1979 was enacted to resolve the
many substantive problems contained in the legislation of
the previous year, and to restructure the law in the form
used by the Commission to Revise the Annotated Code in
revising the various health occupations titles. For these
reasons, the subtitle enacted by Ch. 851, Acts of 1978 was
repealed in its entirety and a completely rewritten subtitle
was enacted by Ch. 715, Acts of 1979. (See present Art.
43, §§ 555B-1 through 555B-41 of the Code, which now appear
in this title).

Because the present title is already in the form used
by the Commission, many of the standard revisor's notes are
unnecessary.

As to transitional provisions that relate to the
sequence of Boards, see also the uncodified sections of Ch.
851, Acts of 1978, and Ch. 715, Acts of 1979.

TITLE 6. MORTICIANS.

SUBTITLE 1. DEFINITIONS; GENERAL PROVISIONS.

6-101. DEFINITIONS.

(A)  IN GENERAL.

IN THIS TITLE THE FOLLOWING WORDS HAVE THE MEANINGS
INDICATED.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language used as
the standard introductory language to a
definition section.

See also § 1-101 of this article for other
applicable definitions.

(B)  APPRENTICE.

"APPRENTICE" MEANS AN INDIVIDUAL WHO ASSISTS A LICENSED
MORTICIAN IN THE PRACTICE OF MORTUARY SCIENCE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language added
to provide an express definition of "apprentice".

(C)  BOARD.

"BOARD" MEANS THE STATE BOARD OF MORTICIANS.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language added
to avoid needless repetition of the full title of
the Board.

As to the substitution of the term "mortician"
for "funeral director and embalmer", see the
revisor's note to subsection (k) of this section.
