AN ACT concerning

Education - Student Transportation

FOR the purpose of changing the method by which the State
appropriates funds for costs of student transportation;
abolishing the School Bus Formula Committee; repealing
the authorization to charge a certain item against the
general State school fund; repealing altering a
provision that authorized an exception to a limitation
on the transportation of students; repealing
restrictions on the method of providing student
transportation in certain counties; repealing certain
requirements of approval by the State Superintendent of
Schools as a condition for a county's transportation of
children; requiring the State Board of Education to
adopt rules and regulations for the safe operation of
transportation systems; requiring the transportation of
handicapped children who have been placed in conformity
with applicable standards; and amending generally the
law relating to the funding, accounting procedures, and
regulation of the transportation of students.
