AN ACT concerning
Kent County - State's Attorney Salary
FOR the purpose of increasing the salary of the State's
Attorney for Kent County; providing for cost of living
increases; providing that this Act does not affect the
incumbent State's Attorney of Kent County; and
clarifying language.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article 10 - Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact
Section 40(o)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:
Article 10 - Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact
40.
(o) In Kent County, (1) the State's [Attorney's]
ATTORNEY SHALL RECEIVE A salary [is] OF [$16,000] $20,000
AND AN ANNUAL COST OF LIVING INCREASE.
(2) The State's Attorney may employ a deputy
State's attorney who shall be a member of the local bar in
good standing. The State's Attorney may also employ a
criminal investigator and an administrative coordinator.
The deputy State's Attorney's salary shall be not less than
$12,000 and shall be set by the County Commissioners of Kent
County. The salary of the investigator shall be not less
than $10,000 nor more than $18,500 and shall be set by the
State's Attorney; the salary of the coordinator shall be not
less than $10,000 and shall be set by the County
Commissioners. The deputy State's attorney, the
investigator, and the coordinator shall investigate cases,
prepare the dockets, and perform such acts and duties as the
State's Attorney may request.
(3) The State's Attorney's allowance for
clerical hire, rental expenses and general office expenses
is $5,000. All these expenses shall be paid by the
submission of vouchers therefor to, and after approval by,
the Board of County Commissioners.
