REQUIRED.

(III) THE STATE BOARD FOR HIGHER EDUCATION
MAY NOT ISSUE A CERTIFICATE OF APPROVAL TO AN INSTITUTION
THAT FAILS TO PAY THE ANNUAL FEE AND REASSESSMENT, IF ANY.

(4) (I) THE FUND SHALL BE MAINTAINED BY THE
STATE COMPTROLLER WHO MAY DEPOSIT OR INVEST THE ASSETS OF
THE FUND IN ANY MANNER THAT IS CONSISTENT WITH THE PURPOSES
OF THE FUND.

(II) ALL INTEREST OR OTHER RETURN ON FUND
INVESTMENT SHALL BE CREDITED TO THE FUND.

(5)  THE STATE BOARD FOR HIGHER EDUCATION,
THROUGH THE ATTORNEY GENERAL, MAY ENFORCE ANY CLAIM FOR
RESTITUTION.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1981.

AN ACT concerning

"Buy American Steel" Act - Applicability

FOR the purpose of providing that the "Buy American Steel"
Act shall apply to contracts advertised for bid and
proposals for the purchase of certain items of
machinery and equipment; providing that this Act shall
apply prospectively; and generally relating to the "Buy
American Steel" Act; and making this Act an emergency
measure.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(as enacted by Chapter 775 of the Acts of the General
