AN ACT concerning

Queen Anne's County - Volunteer Fire Companies
(Signal Lights on Vehicles)

FOR the purpose of authorizing the fire chief and certain
other members of the volunteer fire companies in Queen
Anne's County to have their vehicles equipped with
certain lights or signal devices; and restricting the
use of the lights or signal devices to certain
emergency occasions; and requiring the Sheriff of Queen
Anne's County to appoint a certain number of members of
volunteer fire companies in Queen Anne's County as
deputy sheriffs.

BY adding to

The Public Local Laws of Queen Anne's County
Section 12-2

Article 18 - Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1974 Edition, as amended)

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 87 - Sheriffs

Section 53(b)(1)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1979 Replacement Volume and 1980 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as

follows:

Article 18 - Queen Anne's County
12-2.

(A)      THE FIRE CHIEF, HIS TWO CHIEF DEPUTIES, OR HIS

DESIGNATED FIRE POLICE OF EACH VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY IN

QUEEN ANNE'S COUNTY MAY HAVE THEIR VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH

AMBER LIGHTS OR SIGNAL DEVICES DESIGNED TO EMIT AN

OSCILLATING, ROTATING, BLINKING, OR OTHER TYPE OF EMISSION
OF LIGHT. THE FIRE CHIEF OF EACH VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY IN
QUEEN ANNE'S COUNTY MAY AUTHORIZE THOSE MEMBERS OF THE FIRE
COMPANY WHO HAVE BEEN APPOINTED DEPUTY SHERIFFS OF QUEEN
ANNE'S COUNTY TO HAVE THEIR VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AMBER
LIGHTS OR SIGNAL DEVICES DESIGNED TO EMIT AN OSCILLATING,
ROTATING, BLINKING, OR OTHER TYPE OF EMISSION OF LIGHT.

(B)  THE LIGHTS OR SIGNAL DEVICES MAY BE FLASHED OR
OSCILLATED OR OTHERWISE USED ONLY WHILE EN ROUTE TO OR AT
THE SCENE OF AN ACCIDENT, FLOOD, OR OTHER EMERGENCY TO WHICH
THE VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY IS RESPONDING.
