Ch. 340

[(b)] (C) Violation of this section is punishable
by fine of not less than fifty dollars ($50) nor more than
five hundred dollars ($500) or shall be imprisoned in jail
for not exceeding sixty days, or shall be subject to both
fine and imprisonment in the discretion of the court.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1981.

(House Bill 44)

AN ACT concerning

Extension of Governor's Emergency Energy Powers

FOR the purpose of extending until a certain date the
authorization to the Governor of certain powers during
energy crisis emergency situations; and making this Act
an emergency measure.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 41 - Governor - Executive and

Administrative Departments
Section 15B(c-l)(l)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1978 Replacement Volume and 1980 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 41 - Governor - Executive and
Administrative Departments

15B.

(c-1) (1) As used in this subtitle, but only until
March 15, [1981] 1982, "crisis," "disaster," "catastrophe,"
and "or similar public emergency" also refers to a situation
where the health, safety, or welfare of the citizens of this
State are threatened by reason of an actual or impending
acute shortage in usable energy resources. Upon reasonable
apprehension that such a crisis, disaster, catastrophe, or
similar public emergency exists, the Governor may proclaim a
state of emergency. In that event the Governor's orders,
rules, and regulations, promulgated as provided in this
subtitle, may also include, by way of further enumerated
