CHAPTER 325

(Senate Bill 902)

AN ACT concerning

Battered Spouse Program

FOR the purpose of requiring the Social Services
Administration to set charges for services rendered by
each shelter home; repealing certain obsolete
references to a model home and to a provision
concerning an evaluation and report to be made by the
Secretary; repealing provisions relating to financing
of that home and specifying that funding of the program
shall be as authorized in the State budget;
substituting a reference to a general program to assist
battered spouses and their children for obsolete
references to the model shelter homes; changing the
name of the subtitle; and making certain technical
changes in organization and style.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 88A - Social Services Administration

Section 101, 103, and 104, and all to be under the

amended subtitle, "Battered Spouse Program"

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 88A - Social Services Administration

Battered [Spouses - Shelter] SPOUSE PROGRAM

101.

The General Assembly finds and declares that an
increasing number of persons known as battered spouses are
forced to leave their homes to insure their life, safety,
