HARRY HUGHES, Governor                               1579

amusement park shall for three years next preceding the
filing of his application for a permit have been a resident
and a registered voter of Charles County, and provided
further, that any such concessionaire must first obtain a
permit therefor from the Sheriff of Charles County upon a
form prescribed for that purpose by said Sheriff and upon
payment of the prescribed annual license fee of $300.00. No
such bingo game shall award a merchandise prize in excess of
$25 to any player of a bingo game, except that the award of
a "jackpot" in an amount not to exceed $500 in merchandise
is allowed when directly connected with the playing of bingo
games.]

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1981.

Charles County - Gambling

FOR the purpose of clarifying provisions relating to the
operation of carnivals, bazaars, raffles, or card
parties in Charles County; and prohibiting in Charles
County persons under a certain age from participating
in such activities.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments

255.

(a) This subtitle may not be construed to make it
unlawful for any volunteer fire company or bona fide
fraternal, civic, war veterans', religious or charitable
organization or corporation in Allegany, Anne Arundel,
Calvert, Caroline, Carroll, Charles, Dorchester, Frederick,
