In subsection (b) of this section, the reference
to a "resident" is new language added for clarity
and to conform to actual practice.

In subsection (c)(2) of this section, the word
"affiliated" is substituted for "related" for
clarity and to conform to terminology used in
practice.

In subsection (d) of this section, the present
cross-reference to Art. 43, § 843 of the Code is
deleted as unnecessary.

As to the third sentence of present Art. 32, §
5(c), see also § 4-304 of this subtitle.

The balance of present Art. 32, § 28A(b) now
appears in § 4-307 of this subtitle.

4-309. TERM AND RENEWAL OF LICENSES.

(A)  TERM OF LICENSE.

(1)  EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE PROVIDED IN THIS
SUBSECTION, A LICENSE EXPIRES ON THE APRIL 1 AFTER ITS
EFFECTIVE DATE, UNLESS THE LICENSE IS RENEWED FOR A 1-YEAR
TERM AS PROVIDED IN THIS SECTION.

(2)  A LIMITED LICENSE TO PRACTICE DENTISTRY
EXPIRES ON THE FIRST ANNIVERSARY OF ITS EFFECTIVE DATE.

(3)  A TEACHER'S LICENSE TO PRACTICE DENTISTRY OR
A TEACHER'S LICENSE TO PRACTICE DENTAL HYGIENE EXPIRES ON
THE EARLIER OF:

(I)  THE APRIL 1 AFTER ITS EFFECTIVE DATE,
UNLESS THE LICENSE IS RENEWED FOR A 1-YEAR TERM AS PROVIDED
IN THIS SECTION; OR

(II)  THE DATE WHEN THE LICENSEE CEASES TO
BE A FULL-TIME FACULTY MEMBER AT THE INSTITUTION NAMED ON
THE LICENSE.

(B)  RENEWAL NOTICE.

AT LEAST 1 MONTH BEFORE A GENERAL LICENSE TO PRACTICE
DENTISTRY, A TEACHER'S LICENSE TO PRACTICE DENTISTRY, A
GENERAL LICENSE TO PRACTICE DENTAL HYGIENE, OR A TEACHER'S
LICENSE TO PRACTICE DENTAL HYGIENE EXPIRES, THE BOARD SHALL
SEND TO THE LICENSEE, BY FIRST CLASS MAIL TO THE LAST KNOWN
ADDRESS OF THE LICENSEE, A RENEWAL NOTICE THAT STATES:

(1)  THE DATE ON WHICH THE CURRENT LICENSE
EXPIRES;

(2)  THE DATE BY WHICH THE RENEWAL APPLICATION
MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE BOARD FOR THE RENEWAL TO BE ISSUED
AND MAILED BEFORE THE LICENSE EXPIRES; AND
