AN ACT concerning

Health Insurance - Medicare Supplement -
Application of Minimum Standards

FOR the purpose of applying the requirements of the Medicare
Supplement and Specified Disease Act of 1980 to
individual and certain group health policies contracts
and certificates issued by nonprofit health service
plans and to certain group and blanket policies and
certificates issued by other insurers.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 48A - Insurance Code

Section 468B(a)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1979 Replacement Volume and 1980 Supplement)

(As enacted by Chapter 268 of the Acts of the

General Assembly of 1980)

BY adding to

Article 48A - Insurance Code

Section 354W and 477V

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1979 Replacement Volume and 1980 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(as enacted by Chapter 268 of the Acts of the General
Assembly of 1980) be repealed, amended, or enacted to read
as follows:

Article 48A - Insurance Code
468B.

(a) Sections 468B through 468H of this subtitle may be
cited as the Medicare Supplement and Specified Disease Act.
NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER PROVISIONS TO THE CONTRARY, THE
PROVISIONS OF THIS ACT SHALL APPLY TO POLICIES ISSUED UNDER
THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SUBTITLE AND ALSO TO INDIVIDUAL AND
GROUP POLICIES CONTRACTS AND CERTIFICATES ISSUED UNDER THE
PROVISIONS OF SUBTITLE 20 - NONPROFIT HEALTH SERVICE PLANS
AND TO GROUP AND BLANKET POLICIES AND CERTIFICATES ISSUED
UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF SUBTITLE 26 - GROUP AND BLANKET
HEALTH INSURANCE.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That section(s)
of the Annotated Code of Maryland be repealed, amended, or
enacted to read as follows:
