Ch. 127

[(i) The salary of 5 assistant State's
attorneys shall be set by the State's Attorney and may not
exceed $27,500 annually as the State's Attorney may
consider proper and they shall serve full time, and they
shall be precluded from the private practice of law.]

[(ii) The salary of 11 assistant State's
attorneys shall be within the discretion of the State's
Attorney but in no event exceed $25,000 annually as the
State's Attorney may consider proper, and they shall serve
full time but be precluded from the private practice of
criminal law.]

[(iii) The salary of one assistant State's
attorney shall be within the discretion of the State's
Attorney but in no event exceed $22,500 annually as the
State's Attorney may consider proper, and he shall serve
part time but be precluded from the private practice of
criminal law.]

(5) THE DEPUTY STATE'S ATTORNEYS AND THE

ASSISTANT STATE'S ATTORNEYS SHALL BE PRECLUDED FROM THE

PRIVATE PRACTICE OF CRIMINAL LAW AND, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF
ONE ASSISTANT, SHALL SERVE FULL TIME.

[(5)] (6) The State's Attorney may appoint
clerical, administrative, investigative and other assistants
as in his judgment may be necessary for the proper conduct
of his office.

[(6)] (7) The State's Attorney may from time to
time, if considered necessary, with the approval of the
[senior] ADMINISTRATIVE judge of the Circuit Court for Anne
Arundel County, appoint a temporary assistant State's
attorney for a particular case or series of cases and , WITH
THE CONCURRENCE OF THE COUNTY, may fix the compensation.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1981.
