AN ACT concerning

Anne Arundel County - Deputy Sheriffs

FOR the purpose of altering the number of deputy sheriffs
that may be appointed in Anne Arundel County.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings

Section 2-309(c)(2)

Annotated Code of Maryland

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings

2-309.

(c) (2) The Sheriff of Anne Arundel County may
appoint up to [17] 22 deputies whose annual salary shall be
fixed by the Sheriff as in a general Anne Arundel County
classified salary schedule, pay grade 16, step 1 to 6, the
step to be determined by the Sheriff. The Sheriff may
appoint up to four deputies whose annual salary shall be
fixed by the Sheriff as in a general Anne Arundel County
classified salary schedule, pay grade 19, step 1 to 6, the
step to be determined by the Sheriff. In addition, the
Sheriff shall receive $25,000 annually to be used for the
salaries of part-time deputies and additional clerical
assistants.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1980.
