AN ACT concerning

Support of Dependents - Definition of "State"

FOR the purpose of altering the definition of "state" to
provide that certain provisions relating to the support
of dependents apply to the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico
and any foreign jurisdiction.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 89C - Support of Dependents

Section 2(b)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1979 Replacement Volume and 1979 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 89C - Support of Dependents

(b) "State" includes any state, territory or
possession of the United States, [and] the District of
Columbia, THE COMMONWEALTH OF PUERTO RICO, AND ANY FOREIGN
JURISDICTION in which this or a substantially similar
reciprocal law has been enacted.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1980.
