Washington County - Rewards

FOR the purpose of providing that the Board of County
Commissioners for Washington County may establish
rewards they consider appropriate for the arrest and
conviction of criminals for offenses committed within
the County.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

The Public Local Laws of Washington County
Section 8-9

Article 22 - Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1970 Edition and 1975 Supplement, as amended)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as
follows:

Article 22 - Washington County

8-9.

The County Commissioners are authorized [and empowered]
to offer a reward, AS THEY CONSIDER APPROPRIATE, for the
arrest and conviction of criminals for offenses committed
within said county, whenever in their judgment the nature
and character of the offense will warrant it, and to levy
upon the assessed property of the county to pay the same [;
provided, however, that the reward to be paid in any one
case shall not exceed one hundred dollars].

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1980.

FOR the purpose of requiring certain property owners in
Washington County to pay the costs of public road
improvements on a certain basis to be determined by the
Board of County Commissioners.
