LAWS OF MARYLAND

Ch. 33

REVISOR'S NOTE: Ch. ___, Acts of 1980, which enacted

the Financial Institutions Article, also added
this section. This section is derived without
substantive change from the list of holidays and
dates for their observance in the first sentence
of Art. 13, § 9 and from the first clause of Art.
13, § 11.

Although the present Art. 13     provisions were

enacted originally to designate     bank holidays,

the provisions now constitute     a list of State

holidays for diverse purposes     throughout the
Code.

In subsection (a)(15) of this section, the
present reference to "congressional elections" is
deleted as unnecessary in light of the broad
reference to "general election" and as inaccurate
as to special congressional elections.

In subsection (a) (16) of this section, the
present reference to days designated by "the
State" is deleted as unnecessary, in light of the
reference to days designated by the Governor.
Also in subsection (a)(16) of this section, the
reference to "days of thanksgiving or fasting and
prayer, or other religious observance" is deleted
as unnecessary, in light of the broad reference
to days for cessation of business.
