EXECUTIVE ORDERS

Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended; and

WHEREAS, It is important that handicapped citizens become
aware that they have fundamental rights guaranteed to
them by law, to assist them in overcoming the problems
they face daily in such areas as employment, education,
housing, transportation and other areas; and

WHEREAS, There is a continuing and substantial need for the
education of the public regarding the employment
abilities and capabilities of properly placed,
qualified disabled persons;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, HARRY HUGHES, GOVERNOR OF MARYLAND, BY
VIRTUE OF THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME BY ARTICLE II,
SECTION 24, OF THE CONSTITUTION OF MARYLAND AND BY
ARTICLE 41, SECTIONS 15, 15C, AND 15CA OF THE ANNOTATED
CODE OF MARYLAND, HEREBY ISSUE THE FOLLOWING EXECUTIVE
ORDER, EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY:

1.  There is a Governor's Committee on Employment
of the Handicapped.

2.  The Governor's Committee on Employment of the
Handicapped is affiliated with the President's
Committee on Employment of the Handicapped
located in Washington, D.C., and is affiliated
with Maryland State government as a miscellaneous
agency housed within the Division of Vocational
Rehabilitation, Maryland State Department of
Education.

3.  The membership of the Committee shall consist
of a total of 27 members including one
representative from:

(a)  State Division of Vocational
Rehabilitation

(b)  State Employment Security
Administration

(c)  State Department of Personnel

(d)  State Department of Education

(e)  Executive Department Office for the
Handicapped

(f)  State Senate

(g)  State House of Delegates

(h) State Department of Transportation
