Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments

[509.

It shall be lawful to operate, work at, or be employed
in the occupations of operating any bathing beach,
bathhouse, amusement park, dancing saloon, the sale or
selling of any novelties, souvenirs, accessories, or other
merchandise essential to, or customarily sold at, or
incidental to, the operation of the aforesaid occupations
and businesses, at retail, picnic groves, amusements, games,
amusement rides, amusement devices, entertainments, shows
and the hiring or renting of boats, tables, chairs, beach
umbrellas, on the first day of the week, commonly called
Sunday, within Anne Arundel County, and §§ 492, 521 and 522
of this article are repealed, insofar and to the extent that
they prohibit the operating of and/or the working of or
employment of persons in the operation of any bathing beach,
bathhouse, amusement park, dancing saloon, the sale or
selling at retail of any merchandise, essential to or
customarily sold or incidental to the operation of the
aforesaid occupations or businesses, picnic groves,
amusements, games, amusement rides, amusement devices,
entertainments, shows, and the hiring and renting of boats,
tables, chairs, beach umbrellas, on the first day of the
week, commonly called Sunday, in Anne Arundel County.]

Nothing contained in §§ 492 or 522 of this article,
shall be construed as prohibiting, penalizing or making
unlawful the operation of any bowling alley, tenpin alley or
duckpin alley in Baltimore County between the hours of
midnight Saturday and 3 a.m. Sunday and after 1 p.m. on
Sunday with or without a charge or fee.]

523.

Nothing contained in §§ 492 or 522 of this article

shall be construed to prohibit or make unlawful the

exhibition within the boundaries of Carroll County of motion
pictures between the hours of 2 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on the
first day of the week, commonly called Sunday, whether the
same be exhibited with or without a charge or admission fee,

provided, however, that such exhibition shall be subject to
all provisions of law relating to licensing and censorship
applicable to motion picture exhibitions on weekdays. The
work or employment of any operator, ticket seller or any
other employees or attendants in connection with any such
exhibition of motion pictures shall not be unlawful because
performed on Sundays. Any exhibition of motion pictures on
Sundays, except as hereby authorized, shall be unlawful and
subject to the provisions and penalties of said §§ 492 and
522 of this article.
