(b) To cooperate with the "Keep Maryland
Beautiful" program of the State of Maryland and to utilize
the advice and services of the garden clubs of the county
for the promotion of the objectives of this chapter.
(2) Same; cleanup. The powers and duties of the
Committee on Cleanup shall be as follows:
(a) To survey the public roads, parks and
other public facilities to ascertain whether they are being
kept free from trash and refuse.
(b) To provide active leadership for
cleanup drives in the county and in such efforts to
cooperate with the County Highway Department, private
persons, the police and other public agencies in the county.
(3) Same; conservation. The Committee on
Conservation shall have the duty of preserving the
historical heritage of the county, with proper allowance for
necessary change or progress, and of cooperating with the
St. Mary's County Historical Society in these efforts, and,
with the approval of the Board of County Commissioners, it
may accept gifts to promote these objectives. This
committee also shall study and make recommendations
concerning the conservation of the natural resources of the
county.
(4) Same; reports. The several committees shall
submit reports to the County Planning Commission in those
instances in which the committees' work or observations
relate to the functions of planning and zoning.]
[K.] J. Same; appropriations. The Board of County
Commissioners may appropriate public funds to implement and
support the powers and duties provided in this section.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1980.
