(e) Any electric drill or other electrically operated
rotating tool intended to be held in the hand shall have the
electric switch constructed to break the circuit when the
hand releases the switch, or shall be equipped with friction
or safety clutches.
(f) Any explosion-tested cable-reel locomotive in a
gassy mine shall be equipped with two-conductor trailing
cables.]

(a) Each new trailing cable used on electric mine
equipment shall meet the United States Bureau of Mines test
for flame-resistive quality.
(b) Every trailing cable shall be provided with a
suitable overload protection and power tap, unless properly
connected to a permissible junction or distribution box.
(c) The number of temporary, unvulcanized splices in a
trailing cable may not exceed four. The number of temporary,
unvulcanized splices in a short hand cable may not exceed
one. Trailing cable splices shall be made in a workmanlike
manner, mechanically strong, and well insulated.]

Electric light wire shall be supported by suitable
insulators and fastened securely to the power conductor by
means of clamps or the equivalent. Electric light may not be
installed within 150 feet of pillar or advancing workings. A
light shall be installed to prevent it from coming in
contact with combustible material.]

The bureau by rule or regulation shall require a
systematic and periodic examination and report of the
condition of wiring and electrical equipment and apparatus.
The mine operator shall make the examination and report.]
[7-443.
(a) The mine operator shall provide and deliver at the
working face or as near to it as can be conveyed in a mine
car, a sufficient supply of props, cap pieces, and timbers,
cut square at one end, and as nearly as practicable to the
proper size and length for the purpose intended. Each worker
who needs timber shall notify the operator at least one day
in advance and inform him of the number, size, and length of
props, cap pieces, and other timber required. In an
emergency, the material may be ordered in the manner the
operator may provide. If the necessary material cannot be
supplied when required, the mine foreman shall instruct the
workman to vacate the place until the material has been
