AN ACT concerning

Teachers' Retirement System - Creditable Service

FOR the purpose of amending the provision relating to
purchase of credit for service with a municipal
corporation to conform to a similar provision in the
Employees' Retirement System Law.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 73B - Pensions

Section 85(10)

Annotated Code of Maryland

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 73B - Pensions

85.

(10) Any individual who is or becomes a member of the
Teachers' Retirement System and who at any previous time
served as a full-time paid employee of a municipal
corporation of this State and who is not entitled to receive
credit for that period of employment under any other
provision of this article [may receive] SHALL BE ENTITLED IN
THE YEAR IN WHICH HE RETIRES TO credit for previous service
rendered by him to the municipal corporation if the member
files a claim for it with the board of trustees and the
member or the municipal corporation or a combination of both
pays an amount equal to the reserves required to fund the
previous service.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1980.
