INVESTIGATED AND A REPORT SHALL BE MADE IN THE MANNER
PROVIDED BY PARAGRAPH (1) OF THIS SUBSECTION. UPON RECEIPT
OF THE REPORT, THE COMPLAINANT HAS A RIGHT TO A HEARING AS
PROVIDED IN THE RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF
HEALTH AND MENTAL HYGIENE.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1980.

AN ACT concerning

Scholarships for Gerontological Graduate Nurses

FOR the purpose of establishing a scholarship program for
gerontological certain graduate nurses; defining
certain terms; providing certain qualifications and
conditions; providing terms for the holding of the
scholarships; establishing duties of the State Board of
Higher Education and the State Scholarship Board;
establishing how the scholarship money is to be used;
providing for repayment of the scholarship under
certain conditions; requiring the Governor to provide
funding for the scholarship program providing for a
certain number of scholarships with funding as
appropriated in the budget; and generally relating to
the establishment of a scholarship program for
gerontological graduate nurses.

Preamble

WHEREAS, The General Assembly of Maryland finds that
there is a serious shortage of qualified nurses in this
State; and

WHEREAS, The shortage of gerontological nurses and
administrative nurses for nursing homes especially is acute;
and

WHEREAS, Demographic data indicates that the Maryland
population of older adults is increasing; and
