SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1980.

AN ACT concerning

Teachers' Retirement and Teachers' Pension Systems

FOR the purpose of providing that a member of the Teachers'
Retirement System or the Teachers' Pension System may
continue his employment at the age of 70 for a certain
period of time by application to the State Board of
Education or , the State Superintendent of Schools, or,
in the case of higher education, to a member's
appointing authority; permitting the further
continuation of employment under certain circumstances;
providing for a hearing before the Maryland Employees
Retirement Review Board upon disapproval of the
application; increasing the number of members on the
Maryland Employees Retirement Review Board; repealing a
provision which allows a member of the Teachers'
Retirement System who attained the age of 70 during
World War II or a retired member who was in service on
January 1, 1942 to remain or be reinstated in service
under certain circumstances; providing an effective
date for this Act; and making stylistic changes.
