Annotated Code of Maryland

(1978 Volume and 1979 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article - Education

18-1205.

A postsecondary proprietary student grant may be used:

(1)  At a private postsecondary proprietary
institution in this State that:

(i) Is approved by the State Board of
Higher Education; AND

(ii) [Enrolls at least 25 full-time
students, as determined by the State Board of Higher
Education; and

(iii)] Operates solely within the State;
and

(2)  For tuition charges only.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency measure and necessary for
the immediate preservation of the public health and safety
and having been passed by a yea and nay vote supported by
three-fifths of all the members elected to each of the two
Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

(House Bill 756)

AN ACT concerning

Education - Handicapped Children - Placement in
Nonpublic Programs

FOR the purpose of requiring that certain decisions

concerning the placement of handicapped children in
nonpublic educational programs be made by certain
qualified persons; and altering certain provisions of
law to conform with a certain federal law.
