(Senate Bill 316)

AN ACT concerning

General State Scholarships and Senatorial Scholarships

FOR the purpose of specifying that the provisions for annual
allocations to legislative districts under the General
State Scholarship Program and to senators under the
State Senatorial Scholarship Program apply to
initial-year awards; and specifying the maximum
allocations under these Programs for initial and
continuing awards after a certain time period.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section(s) 18-307(b) and 18-404(b),
respectively, of Article - Education, of the Annotated Code
of Maryland be renumbered to be Section(s) 18-307(c) and
18-404(c), respectively.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That section(s)
of the Annotated Code of Maryland be repealed, amended, or
enacted to read as follows:

(B) THE ANNUAL ALLOCATION UNDER SUBSECTION (A) OF
THIS SECTION APPLIES TO INITIAL-YEAR AWARDS. AFTER 4 YEARS
OF OPERATION, THE ANNUAL ALLOCATION FOR EACH LEGISLATIVE
DISTRICT FOR INITIAL-YEAR AND CONTINUING AWARDS MAY NOT
EXCEED FOUR TIMES THE AMOUNT OF ITS ALLOCATION UNDER
SUBSECTION (A) OF THIS SECTION.
