AN ACT concerning
Professional Land Surveyors - Board Membership
FOR the purpose of providing that one member of the Board of
Registration for Professional Land Surveyors be a
property line surveyor; adding another public member to
the Board; increasing the size of the Board; changing a
mandatory selection to discretionary; removing a time
requirement; providing that the Governor may appoint a
qualified land or line surveyor; and generally relating
to the Board of Registration for Professional Land
Surveyors.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:
Article 56 - Licenses
331.
(b) The Board consists of five SIX members appointed
by the Governor, with the advice of the Secretary of
Licensing and Regulation and the advice and consent of the
Senate. Of the five SIX members, one TWO shall be a member
MEMBERS from the public [and four], THREE shall be
professional land surveyors, AND ONE A PROPERTY LINE
SURVEYOR. The professional land surveyors AND THE PROPERTY
LINE SURVEYOR shall MAY be selected from a list for each
vacancy of not less than three nominees recommended by the
Maryland Society of Surveyors. If a list is not submitted
to the Governor within 60 days after a vacancy, the THE
Governor may appoint a qualified [professional] land OR LINE
surveyor to the Board without regard to a list.
