AN ACT concerning
Garrett County - Coin-Operated Amusement Devices
FOR the purpose of abolishing the 6-month license provision
for operating a coin-operated amusement device;
specifying that each licensed machine or device shall
have a permanent and visible stamp showing that the
license fee has been paid to replace the less specific
provision for a certain metal tag or other device;
specifying that the stamp may not be transferred from
one machine to another; providing that the sheriff of
Garrett County is responsible for enforcing the
provisions of this section; and clarifying language;
and making this Act an emergency measure.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:
Article 56 - Licenses
20B.
(a) (1) Every person, firm, association or
corporation, keeping, maintaining or operating for public
entertainment or amusement within Garrett County, any claw
machine, pinball machine (console or other), shuffleboard,
mechanical bowling game, or any similar device for public
amusement, whose operation requires the insertion of a coin
or token, and the result of whose operation depends in whole
or in part, upon the skill of the operator, whether or not
it affords an award to a successful operator, shall obtain a
license from the clerk of the Circuit Court of Garrett
County to do so [the]. THE annual license fee shall be $30
for each machine or device. All annual licenses shall
expire on the thirtieth day of April in each year.
(2) [Any person, firm, association or
corporation operating, for 6 months or less during a year, a
machine required to be licensed under this section may be
issued a 6 month license. The fee for a 6 month license
shall be $15 for each machine or device. A 6 month license
shall expire 6 months from the date of issue.
