782                                     LAWS OF MARYLAND                                 Ch. 204

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as
follows:

Article 18 - Queen Anne's County

5-1.

(A)[At the general election to be held on the first
Tuesday after the first Monday of November, in the year
nineteen hundred and fifty-eight, there shall be elected
three County Commissioners for Queen Anne's County, and
thereafter the number of County Commissioners for said Queen
Anne's County shall be three, and there shall be elected at]
AT every general election held on the first Tuesday after
the first Monday in November in 1982 AND every fourth year
THEREAFTER [thereafter three], FIVE County Commissioners for
Queen Anne's County SHALL BE ELECTED, and the County
Commissioners [so] elected shall hold their office for the
term of four years from the date of their election, or until
their successors shall be elected and qualified, and they
shall be eligible for re-election.

(B)  QUEEN ANNE'S COUNTY SHALL BE DIVIDED INTO FOUR
COUNTY COMMISSIONER DISTRICTS, AS FOLLOWS:

(1)  THE FIRST COUNTY COMMISSIONER DISTRICT IS
COMPOSED OF THE FIRST, SIXTH, AND SEVENTH ELECTION
DISTRICTS;

(2)  THE SECOND COUNTY COMMISSIONER DISTRICT IS
COMPOSED OF THE SECOND AND THIRD ELECTION DISTRICTS;

(3)  THE THIRD COUNTY COMMISSIONER DISTRICT IS
COMPOSED OF THE FIFTH ELECTION DISTRICT; AND

(4)  THE FOURTH COUNTY COMMISSIONER DISTRICT IS
COMPOSED OF THE FOURTH ELECTION DISTRICT.

(C)  BY A GENERAL VOTE OF THE COUNTY, ONE COUNTY
COMMISSIONER SHALL BE ELECTED FROM AMONG THE VOTERS WHO
RESIDE IN THE FIRST COUNTY COMMISSIONER DISTRICT, ONE SHALL
BE ELECTED FROM AMONG THE VOTERS WHO RESIDE IN THE SECOND
COUNTY COMMISSIONER DISTRICT, ONE SHALL BE ELECTED FROM
AMONG THE VOTERS WHO RESIDE IN THE THIRD COUNTY COMMISSIONER
DISTRICT, ONE SHALL BE ELECTED FROM AMONG THE VOTERS WHO
RESIDE IN THE FOURTH COUNTY COMMISSIONER DISTRICT, AND ONE
SHALL BE ELECTED FROM AMONG THE VOTERS WHO RESIDE IN THE
COUNTY AT LARGE.

(D)  ALTHOUGH FOUR COUNTY COMMISSIONER CANDIDATES ARE
REQUIRED TO RESIDE IN SPECIFIED COUNTY COMMISSIONER
DISTRICTS, ALL SHALL BE ELECTED ON A COUNTYWIDE BASIS.
