SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 1 - Rules of Interpretation

[V.

The masculine includes all genders, except where such
construction would be absurd or unreasonable.]

UNLESS THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY SPECIFICALLY PROVIDES THAT
THIS SECTION SHALL BE INAPPLILCABLE TO A PARTICULAR ACT OR
PROVISION OF THIS CODE OTHERWISE IN A PARTICULAR STATUTE,
ALL WORDS IN THIS CODE IMPORTING ONE GENDER INCLUDE AND
APPLY TO THE OTHER GENDER AS WELL.

Article 23B - Municipal Corporation Charters

40.

Women shall have equal privileges with men in
registering, voting, and holding town offices. [Whenever
the masculine gender has been used as to any registering,
voting, or holding town office, it shall be construed to
include the feminine gender.]

Article 33 - Election Code

1-1.

[(b) Whenever in this article words or phrases are
used denoting the masculine gender, they shall be taken to
include the feminine gender.]

(a) It is the duty of the executive officer of the
Department of Legislative Reference to investigate and
