AN ACT concerning

Maryland-National Capital Park, and Planning Commission -

Streets and Numbers in Prince George's County

MC/PG 47-79

FOR the purpose of repealing a provision terminating Chapter
774 of the Laws of Maryland of 1978, which relates to
the authority of the Commission to rename streets or
renumber houses located in a municipality in Prince
George's County; to provide for the override of a
municipal veto by the County Council of Prince George's
County; and making this Act an emergency measure.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Chapter 774 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1978
Section 2

Preamble

WHEREAS, Chapter 774 of 1978 altered the authority of
the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission
to rename a street or renumber a house located in a
municipality in Prince George's County; and

WHEREAS, The 1978 Act contained a provision terminating
its effectiveness on April 15, 1979, without further action
required by the General Assembly; and

WHEREAS, The purpose of this Act, immediately upon its
enactment, is to make the provisions of Chapter 774 of 1978
apply on a permanent basis; and

WHEREAS, There is a need to provide for the override of
a municipal veto by the County Council of Prince George's
County if there is an issue of the public health, safety,
and welfare; now, therefore,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:
