shall take effect July 1, 1979.

CHAPTER 114

(Senate Bill 434)

AN ACT concerning

Motor Vehicles - Transportation of
Handicapped Children

FOR the purpose of requiring that either the driver or an
aide on any school vehicle used to transport
handicapped children shall be certified by the
Department of Education as having successfully
completed a certain first aid-safety course.

BY adding to

Article - Transportation
Section 21-1118(e)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1977 Volume and 1978 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article - Transportation

21-1118.

(E) EITHER THE DRIVER OR AN ADULT AIDE ASSIGNED TO
EACH SCHOOL VEHICLE THAT IS USED TO TRANSPORT HANDICAPPED
CHILDREN SHALL BE CERTIFIED AS HAVING SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED
A FIRST AID-SAFETY COURSE APPROVED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF
EDUCATION.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1979.
