Preamble

WHEREAS, The proper maintenance of the automobile is
essential to the conservation of gasoline; and

WHEREAS, The citizens of the State of Maryland rely on
service stations for the maintenance of their automobiles;
and

WHEREAS, Some major oil companies have been
eliminating full-service station operations by converting
them to gasoline-only outlets; and

WHEREAS, Dealers with full-service stations have
served their clientele faithfully for many years and have
established goodwill within their communities and with the
citizens of the State of Maryland whom they serve; and

WHEREAS, Those travelers who travel through the State
of Maryland must be assured of the availability of road
service or emergency service for their safety and
protection; and

WHEREAS, Citizens of the State of Maryland have voiced
their needs by patronizing full-service stations for decades
and would be placed at a severe disadvantage if these
stations were unavailable; now, therefore,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

157F.

(a) (1) Every motor fuel wholesaler, diesel fuel
seller, heating oil distributor, manufacturer, refiner,
jobber, and retail service station dealer before marketing
gasoline and special fuels shall register with the
