Professor, and Instructor,
provided, that of this
amount, $500,000 shall be

expended for selective

increases to salaries or for
change in academic rank of
the existing faculty at the
University of Maryland.

This amount of the

appropriation shall not be
expended for any other

purpose. The University

shall report to the General
Assembly the number and rank

of______faculty positions

receiving selective

increases, the amount of
increase for each faculty
position, and the impact of
the selected increases in

retaining faculty. The

report shall also include
information on the faculty
who left the University, and

where applicable, the

reasons for leaving. This
report shall be submitted
prior to January 9, 1980;
provided further, that of
this amount, $500,000 shall
be restricted to the purpose
of recruiting faculty and

this amount of the

appropriation shall not be
expended for any other

purpose. The University

shall provide the General
Assembly with a report as to
the use of this amount
including a description of
the priority of new faculty
members sought, the degree
of success attained, and the
amount in excess of existing

salary levels used to

recruit the individual

faculty members, and the
number of faculty recruited.

This report shall be

submitted prior to January
9, 1980; and $9,979,338
$7,732,031 $9,979,338 are
restricted for a 6% salary
increase for all full-time
general funded employees of
the University actually in
working status and on the
