SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1979.

CHAPTER 59

(House Bill 592)

AN ACT concerning

Kent County - State's Attorney

FOR the purpose of providing in Kent County that the salary
of the investigator for the State's Attorney may not
exceed a certain amount and shall be set by the State's
Attorney; and specifying a salary base for the
administrative coordinator to the State's Attorney.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 10 - Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact

Section 40(o)(2)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1976 Replacement Volume and 1978 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 10 - Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact

40.

(o) In Kent County,

(2) The State's Attorney may employ a deputy
State's attorney who shall be a member of the local bar in
good standing. The State's Attorney may also employ a
criminal investigator and an administrative coordinator.
The deputy State's attorney's salary shall be not less than
$12,000 and shall be set by the County Commissioners of Kent
County. The [salaries] SALARY of the investigator [and of
the coordinator] shall be not less than $10,000 NOR MORE
THAN $18,500 AND SHALL BE SET BY THE STATE'S ATTORNEY; THE
SALARY OF THE COORDINATOR SHALL BE NOT LESS THAN $10,000 and
shall be set by the County Commissioners. The deputy
State's attorney, the investigator, and the coordinator
shall investigate cases, prepare the dockets, and perform
such acts and duties as the State's Attorney may request.
