VETOES

May 29, 1979

Honorable James Clark, Jr.
President of the Senate
State House
Annapolis, Maryland 21404

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 632.

This bill provides that the Commissioner of Labor and
Industry may not be required to pay any filing fees or court
costs of any nature in connection with any action or
proceedings instituted in the performance of his duties. I
am aware of no justification for treating the Labor and
Industry Division of the Department of Licensing and
Regulation in a manner different than the citizens of this
State and the vast majority of other State agencies with
respect to court costs.

For the reason stated, I have decided to veto Senate
Bill 632.

Sincerely,
Harry Hughes
Governor

Senate Bill No. 643

AN ACT concerning

State Lottery - Use of Certified Check

FOR the purpose of prohibiting the Director of the State
Lottery from requiring certain lottery sales agents to
transfer net lottery proceeds by a certain means; and
clarifying language.
