AN ACT concerning

Howard County — Gaming

FOR the purpose of permitting in Howard County certain
nonprofit organizations to profit from carnival games
to the extent that the profit is applied to the
acquisition of professional services in connection with
the operation of the carnival.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 27 - crimes and Punishments

Section 250A

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
he repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments

250A.

(A) Nothing in this subtitle shall be construed to
make it unlawful for any volunteer fire company or bona fide
fraternal, civic, war veterans' , religious or charitable
organization or corporation in Howard County to conduct or
hold a carnival, bazaar or raffle for the exclusive benefit
of any such volunteer fire company or fraternal, civic, war
veterans', religious or charitable organization or
corporation, provided that no individual or group of
individuals shall:

(1)   [benefit] BENEFIT financially from the
holding of any such bazaar, carnival or raffle; or

(2)   [shall receive] RECEIVE or be paid any of
the proceeds from any such carnival, bazaar or raffle for
personal use or benefit[.];

(3)   HOWEVER, A VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY OR BONA
FIDE FRATERNAL, CIVIC, WAR VETERANS, RELIGIOUS, OR
CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION, OR CORPORATION MAY CONTRACT BY FEE
OR PERCENTAGE FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES IN THE OPERATION OF
ANY CARNIVAL, RAFFLE, OF BAZAAR.
