(D) THIS SECTION MAY NOT BE CONSTRUED TO PROHIBIT,
ABRIDGE OR IN ANY WAY HINDER THE RELIGIOUS FREEDOM OF ANY

PERSON. THEREFORE, RITUAL SLAUGHTER AND THE HANDLING__OF

OTHER PREPARATION OF LIVE STOCK FOR RITUAL SLAUGHTER ARE
EXEMPT FROM THE TERMS OF THIS SECTION. FOR THE PURPOSE OF
THIS SECTION THE TERM "RITUAL SLAUGHTER" MEANS SLAUGHTER IN
ACCORDANCE WITH PARAGRAPH (C) (2) OF THIS SECTION.

(D) (E) IN ADDITION TO ANY PENALTY PROVIDED BY LAW,
THE SECRETARY MAY REFUSE TO PROVIDE OR SUSPEND TEMPORARILY
INSPECTION SERVICES FOR ANY ESTABLISHMENT WHICH DOES NOT
CONFORM TO THE HUMANE SLAUGHTERING REQUIREMENTS OF THIS
SECTION.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1979.
