153. PROTECTION AGAINST FRAUD.

ANY PERSON WHO KNOWINGLY MAKES ANY FALSE STATEMENT OR
FALSIFIES OR PERMITS TO BE FALSIFIED ANY RECORD OF THIS
PENSION SYSTEM IN AN ATTEMPT TO DEFRAUD THIS SYSTEM, SHALL
BE GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR, AND SHALL BE PUNISHABLE UNDER
THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF MARYLAND. IF ANY CHANGE OR ERROR
IN THE RECORDS RESULTS IN ANY MEMBER OR BENEFICIARY
RECEIVING FROM THIS PENSION SYSTEM MORE OR LESS THAN HE
WOULD HAVE BEEN ENTITLED TO RECEIVE HAD THE RECORDS BEEN
CORRECT, THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES SHALL:

(1)   CORRECT THE ERROR; AND

(2)   AS FAR AS PRACTICABLE, ADJUST THE PAYMENT IN A
MANNER THAT THE ACTUARIAL EQUIVALENT OF THE BENEFIT TO WHICH
THE MEMBER OR BENEFICIARY WAS CORRECTLY ENTITLED SHALL BE
PAID.

154. LIMITATION ON MEMBERSHIP.

EXCEPT AS PROVIDED IN § 110 OF THIS ARTICLE, ANY OTHER
LAW THAT PROVIDES WHOLLY OR PARTLY AT THE EXPENSE OF THE
STATE OF MARYLAND FOR PENSIONS OR RETIREMENT BENEFITS FOR
TEACHERS OF THE STATE, THEIR SURVIVING SPOUSES, OR OTHER
DEPENDENTS, DOES NOT APPLY TO MEMBERS OR BENEFICIARIES OF
THIS PENSION SYSTEM, THEIR SURVIVING SPOUSES, OR ANY OTHER
DEPENDENTS, EXCEPT BENEFITS FROM SOCIAL SECURITY.

155. RESERVED.

CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS' RETIREMENT SYSTEM

156. CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS.

(A)   NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER PROVISION OF THIS
ARTICLE, ANY CORRECTIONAL OFFICER SERVING IN ANY OF THE
FIRST SIX JOB CLASSIFICATIONS WHO HAS COMPLETED 20 YEARS OF
CREDITABLE SERVICE AND WHO HAS SERVED AS A CORRECTIONAL
OFFICER IN ONE OF THESE CLASSIFICATIONS FOR AT LEAST 5 YEARS
IMMEDIATELY BEFORE RETIREMENT MAY RETIRE AND RECEIVE A
RETIREMENT ALLOWANCE THAT IS EQUAL TO 1/55 OF HIS AVERAGE
FINAL COMPENSATION MULTIPLIED BY THE NUMBER OF YEARS OF
SERVICE. RETIREMENT FOR A CORRECTIONAL OFFICER IN THESE
CLASSIFICATIONS IS MANDATORY WHEN HE IS 60 YEARS OLD;
HOWEVER, YEAR-TO-YEAR EXTENSIONS MAY BE PERMITTED BEYOND AGE
60 WITH THE APPROVAL OF:

(I)   THE COMMISSIONER OF CORRECTION FOR
CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS OF THE DIVISION OF CORRECTION; AND

(II)  THE DIRECTOR OF PATUXENT INSTITUTION
FOR CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS OF THAT INSTITUTION.

(B)   THE BENEFITS FOR ORDINARY DISABILITY FOR
ANY CORRECTIONAL OFFICER IN THESE CLASSIFICATIONS, WHO HAS
SERVED AS A CORRECTIONAL OFFICER IN ONE OF THESE
