SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section(s) 13 and 14, respectively, of
Article 13 — Bills of Exchange and Promissory Notes, of the
Annotated Code of Maryland be renumbered to be Section(s) 14
and 15, respectively.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That section(s)
of the Annotated Code of Maryland be repealed, amended, or
enacted to read as follows:

Article 13 — Bills of Exchange and Promissory Notes

13.

WHENEVER THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT DESIGNATES THAT A LEGAL
HOLIDAY LISTED BY NAME OR DATE IN SECTIONS 9, 11, OR 12 OF
THIS ARTICLE FALLS ON A DATE OTHER THAN THE LISTED DATE, A
BANKING INSTITUTION HAS THE OPTION OF OBSERVING EITHER OR
BOTH DAYS AS A LEGAL HOLIDAY FOR THE CONVENIENCE OF THE
BANK'S CUSTOMERS.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1979.
