8-702.
(a) The provisions of this subtitle are in addition to
any other provisions of law that regulate or govern signs
along highways or on public property[.]; EXCEPT THAT SIGNS
ADVERTISING A CANDIDATE OR THE SUPPORT OR DEFEAT OF ANY
PROPOSITION MAY NOT BE PROHIBITED ALONGSIDE STATE HIGHWAYS
EXCLUDING FEDERAL AID PRIMARY HIGHWAYS.
8-714.
(b) A permit is not required under this section to
erect or maintain any outdoor sign:
(1) That is used only to advertise the sale or
lease of the property on which it is located;
(2) That is on or within 100 feet of any
building or the entrance to any building in which the
business advertised is carried on; or
(3) That is used only to advertise:
(i) A Maryland historic shrine or
institution; or
(ii) A county or church fair held in this
State.;OR
(4) THAT ADVERTISES A CANDIDATE OR THE SUPPORT
OR DEFEAT OF ANY PROPOSITION. THIS SIGN:
(I) SHALL CLEARLY INDICATE THE NAME OF THE
CANDIDATE OR COMMITTEE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SIGN;
(II) SHALL CONTAIN AN AUTHORITY LINE WHICH
INCLUDES THE NAME OF THE PERSON, TREASURER, OR CAMPAIGN
MANAGER RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PUBLICATION OF THIS SIGN;
(III) MAY NOT BE ERECTED MORE THAN 45 DAYS
PRIOR TO THE ELECTION; AND
(IV) SHALL BE REMOVED WITHIN 15 DAYS AFTER
THE GENERAL ELECTION, OR WITHIN 15 DAYS AFTER THE PRIMARY
ELECTION IF THE CANDIDATE IS NOT IN THE GENERAL
ELECTION.
(I) SHALL COMPLY WITH ALL PROVISIONS OF
ARTICLE 33 OF THIS CODE;
(II) MAY ONLY BE ADJACENT TO SECONDARY
HIGHWAYS;
