AN ACT concerning

Volunteer Firemen Fire Fighters and Rescue Squad Members

FOR the purpose of enabling volunteer firemen fire fighters
or rescue squad members to obtain the benefits of the
Federal Public Safety Officers' Benefits Act of 1976 by
providing that volunteer firemen fire fighters and
rescue squad members shall be considered on duty at
certain times.

Section 45

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1978 Replacement Volume and 1978 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 38A - Fires and Investigations

45.

ANY VOLUNTEER FIREMAN FIRE FIGHTER OR RESCUE SQUAD
MEMBER WHO IS ENGAGED IN FIRE FIGHTING OR RESCUE ACTIVITIES
WITH ANY ORGANIZED FIRE OR RESCUE COMPANY SHALL BE
CONSIDERED FOR PURPOSES OF THE FEDERAL PUBLIC SAFETY
OFFICERS' BENEFITS ACT OF 1976 TO BE "ON DUTY" DURING THE
ACTIVITY.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1979.
