Annotated Code of Maryland

(1974 Volume and 1978 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article - Agriculture
[Subtitle 5. Solid Fuel]

[11-501

(a)   In this subtitle the following words have the
meanings indicated.

(b)   "Solid fuel" means anthracite, semianthracite,
bituminous, or semibituminous coal, lignite coal,
briquettes, boulets, coke, gas house coke, petroleum coke,
petroleum carbon, or any other manufactured or patented fuel
not sold by liquid or metered measure, except charcoal.]

The Secretary shall be responsible for the general
supervision of persons weighing solid fuels and issuing
delivery tickets.]

[11-503.

(a)   No person may issue a delivery ticket for solid
fuel unless the solid fuel has been weighed by a weighmaster
licensed by the Secretary.

(b)   Application for a license shall be made upon the
form the Secretary prescribes. The application shall state
the name and address of the applicant's employer and shall
be verified by the oath of the applicant. In addition, the
applicant shall furnish satisfactory evidence of good moral
character, and ability to weigh accurately and make correct
weight tickets.

(c)   The Secretary may issue a license upon the
payment of annual license fee established by rule or
regulation.

(d)   The license may be renewed annually upon payment
of the fee. Every licensed weighmaster shall notify the
Secretary in writing of any change in name or address of his
employer.

(e)   The license shall be maintained in the place
where the weighmaster is engaged in weighing and shall be
open to inspection.
