32.01.25.01 General Administration

General Fund Appropriation....

It is the Legislature's intent

that the Superintendent

position be transferred to

program 32.01.25.10 and

reclassified to Medical

Director. It is also the

Legislature's intent that
direct care physician posi-
tions bo converted to con—

tractual services as soon as

possible. The Department of
Health and Mental Hygiene is

requested to submit to the

1979 Legislature a plan to

implement those recommenda-

tions contained in the

MEDICUS Report pertaining to

changing the roles of physi-

cians.

It is the Legislature's intent
that the Department consider
the conversion of the Direct
Care Physician positions to
contractual services as soon
as possible. The Department
of Health and Mental Hygiene
is requested to submit, to
the 1979 Legislature, a plan
to implement these recom-
mendations and other recom-
mendations pertaining to
changing the roles of physi-
cians. It is the belief of

the Legislature that the

duties of the

Superintendent's position

should be divided between
two positions, Administrator
and Medical Director, but

that this concept, if

adopted, should not be
implemented until the cur-
rent Superintendent no

longer occupies that posi-
tion.
