27-I. Same—Title to property acquired or constructed;
consent to use of State lands.
(a) The title to any property acquired or constructed
under the provisions of §§ 27A—27J, inclusive, of this
subtitle shall be in the State of Maryland to the benefit
and use of the University of Maryland.
(b) The State of Maryland hereby consents to the use
of any lands owned by it which may be suitable and necessary
for the construction for operation of any of the buildings
and facilities authorized by the provisions of §§ 27A—27J,
inclusive, of this subtitle.
27J. Same—Liberal construction of provisions.
The provisions of §§ 27A-27J, inclusive, of this
subtitle being necessary for the welfare of the State and
its inhabitants, shall be liberally construed to effect the
purposes thereof.
REVISOR'S NOTE: These §§ 27A through 27J are identical
to Art. 77A, §§27A through 27J.
They are transferred to the Session Laws for the
reasons stated in the General Revisor's Note to
Title 13, Subtitle 1 of the Education Article.
They are placed under a subtitle for ease of
identification.
V. UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND.
27K. Dormitories—Definitions.
As used in §§ 27K-27T, inclusive, in this subtitle, the
following words and terms shall have the following meaning,
unless the context shall indicate a different meaning or
intent:
(1) The word "resolution" shall mean a resolution
adopted by a majority of the members of the board of regents
of the University of Maryland:
(2) The word "dormitory" shall mean and embrace
housing facilities and living accommodations which may
include such facilities as eating facilities, recreational
facilities and student facilities; and
(3) The word "cost" as applied to any one or more
dormitories shall embrace the cost of construction, the cost
of the acquisition of all land, rights-of-way, property
rights, easements and interests acquired by the University
of Maryland for such construction, the cost of all machinery
and equipment, financing charges, interest prior to and
during construction and for one year after completion of
construction, the cost of engineering and legal expenses,
plans, specifications, surveys, estimates of costs and
