INTERESTED CITIZENS.

(4) THE BOARD SHALL SEEK IN EVERY WAY TO DIRECT
AND DEVELOP PUBLIC SENTIMENT IN SUPPORT OF PUBLIC EDUCATION.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection presently appears as
Art. 77, §7.

The present phrase "and his professional
assistants" is deleted as unnecessary and for
uniformity throughout this section.

In this subsection and throughout this article,
the tern "county board" is substituted for the
term "county board of education" in light of the
definition of "county board" in §1—101 of this
article.

The only other changes are in style.

(H) POLICY AND GUIDELINES FOR PROGRAMS OF INSTRUCTION.

(1)   WITH THE ADVICE OF THE STATE SUPERINTENDENT,
THE STATE BOARD SHALL ESTABLISH BASIC POLICY AND GUIDELINES
FOR THE PROGRAM OF INSTRUCTION FOR THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

(2)   THE POLICY AND GUIDELINES SHALL BE PRINTED
IN SUFFICIENT QUANTITIES TO PROVIDE COPIES TO:

(I)   PUBLIC SCHOOL OFFICIALS AND TEACHERS;

(II)   PRIVATE SCHOOLS; AND

(III)   INTERESTED CITIZENS OF THIS STATE.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection presently appears as

Art. 77, §15.

In this subsection and throughout this title, the
phrase "with the advice of" is substituted for
the present phrase "with and on the advice of".
This is done for uniformity and no change in
meaning is intended.

The only other changes are in style.

(I) INVESTIGATION OF EDUCATIONAL NEEDS.

(1) WITH THE ADVICE OF THE STATE SUPERINTENDENT,
THE STATE BOARD SHALL INVESTIGATE:

(I)   THE EDUCATIONAL NEEDS OF THIS STATE; AND

(II)    METHODS TO IMPROVE EDUCATIONAL CONDITIONS.

(2) IF NECESSARY, THE BOARD MAY EMPLOY
ADDITIONAL EXPERT ASSISTANCE FOR THESE INVESTIGATIONS.
