AMOUNT DUE.
90. BENEFITS TO TEACHERS RETIRED UNDER PROVISIONS OF
CHAPTER 447 OF THE ACTS OF 1920.
ALL PENSIONS TO TEACHERS RETIRED UNDER CHAPTER 447 OF
THE ACTS OF 1920 IN FORCE ON THE DATE THIS RETIREMENT SYSTEM
IS ESTABLISHED SHALL BE CONTINUED AND PAID THEREAFTER FROM
THE ACCUMULATION FUND CREATED BY THIS SUBTITLE. THE RESIDUE
OF ANY APPROPRIATION MADE FOR THE PAYMENT OF THE PENSION OF
TEACHERS RETIRED UNDER CHAPTER 447 OF THE ACTS OF 1920 SHALL
BE TRANSFERRED AND CREDITED TO THE ACCUMULATION FUND CREATED
BY THIS SUBTITLE.
91. ADDITIONAL PAYMENTS WHEN RETIREMENT BENEFITS BELOW
CERTAIN AMOUNTS—CERTAIN COUNTIES.
(A) WHEN BENEFITS LESS THAN $125 PER MONTH IN ANNE
ARUNDEL, CARROLL AND WICOMICO COUNTIES. —ANY SCHOOL
TEACHER WHO IS RETIRED AND WHO IS RECEIVING ANY RETIREMENT
BENEFITS UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SUBTITLE, WHEN SUCH
BENEFITS IN THE AGGREGATE ARE LESS THAN $125.00 PER MONTH
SHALL RECEIVE AN ADDITIONAL SUM NOT EXCEEDING $50.00 PER
MONTH UPON APPLICATION TO THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, AND SAID
COMMISSIONERS SHALL LEVY ANNUALLY AN AMOUNT SUFFICIENT TO
PAY SUCH ADDITIONAL BENEFITS. PROVIDED THAT THIS
SUBSECTION SHALL APPLY ONLY IN ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, CARROLL
COUNTY AND WICOMICO COUNTY. PROVIDED ALSO THAT THE SUM
GRANTED TO ANY APPLICANT BY THE SAID COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
SHALL BE SUCH THAT WHEN ADDED TO WHATEVER ANY SUCH PERSON IS
RECEIVING FROM THE TEACHERS' RETIREMENT SYSTEM THE TOTAL
SHALL NOT EXCEED $125.00 PER MONTH. PROVIDED FURTHER IN
ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY THAT THE ADDITIONAL SUMS HEREIN
AUTHORIZED SHALL NOT BE PAID TO ANY SUCH TEACHER WHO
RECEIVES BOTH RETIREMENT BENEFITS FROM THE TEACHERS'
RETIREMENT SYSTEM AND FEDERAL SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS.
(B) WHEN BENEFITS LESS THAN $225 PER MONTH IN CECIL,
KENT AND QUEEN ANNE'S COUNTIES. —ANY PUBLIC SCHOOL
TEACHER OF KENT, QUEEN ANNE'S OR CECIL COUNTY WHO RETIRED
PRIOR TO JULY 1, 1956, AND WHO IS RECEIVING ANY RETIREMENT
BENEFITS (EXCLUSIVE OF A DISABILITY RETIREMENT ALLOWANCE)
UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SUBTITLE, WHEN SUCH BENEFITS IN
THE AGGREGATE ARE LESS THAN $225 PER MONTH, SHALL RECEIVE AN
ADDITIONAL SUM NOT EXCEEDING $100 PER MONTH UPON APPLICATION
TO THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, AND THE COMMISSIONERS
SHALL LEVY ANNUALLY AN AMOUNT SUFFICIENT TO PAY SUCH
ADDITIONAL BENEFITS. THE SUM GRANTED TO ANY APPLICANT BY
THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS (SUBJECT TO THE $100 LIMITATION)
SHALL BE SUCH THAT WHEN ADDED TO WHATEVER THE APPLICANT IS
RECEIVING FROM THE TEACHERS' RETIREMENT SYSTEM, THE TOTAL
SHALL NOT EXCEED $225 PER MONTH. PROVIDED FURTHER THAT THE
BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MAY, IN ITS DISCRETION, PAY
OVER TO ANY RETIRED PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHER COVERED BY THIS
SECTION AN ADDITIONAL MONTHLY RETIREMENT BENEFIT SO LONG AS
THE TOTAL RETIREMENT BENEFIT RECEIVED BY SUCH PUBLIC SCHOOL
TEACHER UNDER THIS SUBTITLE AND UNDER THIS SUBSECTION SHALL
NOT IN THE AGGREGATE EXCEED $2,700 PER YEAR; AND THE
